History - Why our group exists
Reachout With Arts In Mind, registered charity no SC023779 is a members led self-help group comprising unemployed adults suffering from mental ill health. The group utilises the creative arts as a means of improving confidence, self-esteem, motivation & aspirations as a route to recovery & eventual return to the workplace.
Reachout campaigns to empower local people to develop a voice: through raising awareness and challenging oppressive stereotypes of mental ill health. Through facilitating Outreach workshops Reachout aims to breakdown barriers to provide a creative platform for the expression of views and opinions.
The group is unique in the Forth Valley & regularly attracts new members through a variety of referral methods. Current premises are geographically remote & not accessible physically, the group wish to relocate to new premises which will provide a variety of flexible spaces indoor & outdoor that will facilitate participation in expressive workshops, presentations & outreach events.
As a user led, socially inclusive & informal, but none the less structured organisation Reachout feels it is uniquely placed to play an important role in community care.
